Brazil Northeast Attractions

The northeast of Brazil is well presented in Recife, Olinda and the surrounding cities.  Beautiful beaches attract local settlers and tourists both local and foreign.  Those who seek tranquility and close contact with nature have accessible options around.  The region also preserves its historical roots – museums, churches and colonial architectural displays.
People from all walks of life gather in the magnificent 7-kilometer white beaches of Boa Viagem matched with the tropical coconut trees and natural swimming pools with lukewarm waters and a variety of fish to swim with you.  Kiosks, showers, volleyball courts, fitness centers, bars and restaurants are just a few feet away from the beaches.  You can also savor the regional fruits and local delicacies sold at amusingly cheap prices.  While you enjoy your beach time, life guards are all around to assist swimmers and keep them within areas protected by coral reefs from sharks.
For tourists who love to know the Brazilian northeast culture, strolling the streets of Olinda and observing the well-preserved houses, churches, museums and views provides an unforgettable return to colonial past.  You may start walking from Praça do Carmo going to Amparo Street until reaching the center where you find restaurants, handicrafts, museums and the House of Giant Dolls used during Carnival.  On Sundays, there is a fare at Largo do Varadouro with a rich display of local products variety and towards the end of the day cultural parades are held to gladden the city guests.
Around 50 kilometers from the north of Recife is the municipality of Itamaracá which displays Forte Orange, built by the Dutch in 1631 and reconstructed by the Portuguese in 1654.  Today, it is home to archeological fragments and diverse objects found in excavations.  From the Fort, you can take a boat and visit the Coroa do Avião, one of the best islets you should never miss to visit.  There, you can swim and dive to your heart´s desire.

Stretching more than 8.5 million square kilometres (3.2 million square miles), the sheer magnitude of Brazil makes it the largest country in South America and one of the most diverse and populous countries in the world. Travellers coming off their flights to Brazil will be surprised to find an eclectic mix of Portuguese, native Indian, African, European, Middle Eastern and Asian immigrants who have been living harmoniously here for generations. Sao Paulo has the largest Japanese community outside of Japan while in the south: Rio Grande do Sul, Parana and Santa Catarina have the highest concentration of Germans and Italians.
The heart and soul of Brazil is undoubtedly Rio de Janeiro where the biggest party, Carnaval, takes place annually attracting thousands from around the world to book flights to Brazil. Further north is the city of Salvador, Bahia’s capital and once the country’s main port for bringing slaves over from Africa. The northeast of Brazil - Recife, Fortaleza and Natal - offers some of the most stunning beaches in the country.
Because of its size, the most economical way to travel around and stop in several cities is to acquire a Brazil Air Pass which most travellers do while booking their flights to Brazil.
